Arun Vijay starrer ‘Maanja Velu’, which is being shaped up fast by director A Venkatesh, is a remake of Telugu hit ‘Lakhsyam’, say reliable sources.

“The Telugu movie starring Gopichand and Jagapathi Babu inspired Venkatesh a lot. Hence he is making it in Tamil. Arun Vijay is doing Gopichand’s role, while Karthik is playing the character played by Jagapathi Babu,” the sources add.

The story is about a honest cop (Karthik) and his younger brother (Arun Vijay), who put an end to the atrocities of a dreaded gangster. Besides, there are usual commercial ingredients you can expect in a Venkatesh movie.

‘Maanja Velu’ brings together Arun Vijay and Venkatesh after the success of ‘Malai Malai’. Karthik, who temporarily bid adieu to acting to concentrate in politics, is marking his reentry with the movie.
